PureMVC Developers Group on Linked in Print E-mail
Monday, 17 March 2008

The PureMVC Community is growing. developers all over the world have been contributing demos and utilities and porting the framework to other languages and platforms where even more communities will form!

If you would like to become an active participant in the community, I recommend registering an account on the PureMVC Forums, so that you can post a question or answer that may come to mind as soon as you think of it.

And another great way to participate is to join our professional group on Linked in .

For those who may not know, Linkedin.com is a social network for academic and professional interests. It's part resume, part social network, and a great way to find and connect with other skilled PureMVC developers all over the world.

Recently Linked in has added a new Groups feature that allows you to display your group membership on your public profile, and to interact with other group members. They are being very choosy, hand approving the groups to make sure they have professional, academic or business purpose.

I'm proud to say that they have approved the PureMVC Developers Group and am taking this opportunity to invite you all to join!

By joining the group on Linked in, you will you be better able to connect with your fellow community members and to draw on that network as a business and technical resource. Plus, you'll be helping to raise the visibility of the technology you love to work with to the professional community at large.

Whether you need to create a Linked in account or just sign in, you'll be able to accept the invitation at this URL:

http://www.linkedin.com/e/gis/71061/5CFC5F7C5C43

Your acceptance request will be placed in a queue and manually approved by myself, so it might not show up on your profile immediately.

And I'd also like to take the opportunity to say thanks so much for becoming a part of the PureMVC community!

Cheers,
-=Cliff>

Recently, Omar Gonzales at Almer/Blank developed and released ZamfBrowser; a ZendAMF service browser.  The AIR application was built using PureMVC Standard. for ActionScript 3 and the source code has kindly been made available online at the project's dedicated website

The guys over at Pyjamas (a Python port of GWT) have made their compiler so efficient that it can take virtually any Python library and it will compile to Javascript. They loved the look of PureMVC Python, and decided to do a couple of demos that use it.

Chandima Cumaranatunge, co-author of the O'Rielly book AS3 Design Patterns, and long-time PureMVC community member recently created a simple Flash/AS3 MultiCore demonstration application accompanied by an informative article that's an excellent introduction to the benefits of working with MultiCore.

FlashDevelop has gained quite a bit of ground in the development community so naturally several folks have created templates to ease the burdon of creating implementation classes. We'll let you be the judge of which are the best.

Ahmed Nuaman has published a well conceived and received AS3/PureMVC tutorial at FlashTuts.com. It's a good place for the learner to get their feet wet, and goes into the difference between using PureMVC with Flex as opposed to Flash or pure AS3.

The AS3 Undo Utility adds the ability to undo/redo actions in your PureMVC based Flex, Flash or AIR applications. The latest version is ready for download, and be sure to check out the demo to see how to implement.

The PureMVC AS3 StartupManager Utility and its associated demos have been significantly refactored and improved. And to dispel the notion that the utility is only useful at startup time, it has been renamed Loadup
