PureMVC Presentation at Ignite MAX Print E-mail
Sunday, 23 September 2007

ImageMAX 2007 Chicago was a blast, and the O'Reilly Ignite! session at the kick-off party was a success. Keeping presentations short had the great effect of focusing everyone on their topic and making the most of it. It was a great way to start the conference.

I gave one of "16 special 5-minute presentations at the Welcome Reception. These presentations will showcase innovative projects that were created by community members using Adobe technologies. Attendees will vote for their favorite presentations by SMS texting, and the two most popular will be presented again during MAX 2007 general sessions."

I didn't want to bore people to tears with the details of an MVC framework, (it was a party after all). So, I chose to focus on the reasons why someone might need the framework.

My topic was 'PureMVC and the Art of Rocketship Maintenance.' The talk was centered around the analogy of the public sector space-race to the RIA business. Essentially, there are a lot of folks getting into the space business who have no experience with rocketships, but they're eventually going to get us off the planet. Similarly, a lot of folks are getting into the RIA business who have no experience building applications, and what they are starting to build will become the next wave of Internet-based communication. The need for a simple, well-documented approach to building applications has never been greater.

P.S. Thanks to whoever took this pic, I found it late one night trolling the web and have forgotten where it came from.
